Icflix is among Apple’s Best of 2017 apps across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the regional video-on-demand (VOD) operator has announced.

ICFLIX Best App 2017In addition to its availability in the App Store, Icflix was the first VOD streaming app from the MENA region to become globally available to download from the Apple TV store when the latest version of Apple TV was launched.

Icflix provides a range of Arabic, Indian and Hollywood films and TV shows, with subtitles and alternative audio options for much of its content, to suit French, Arabic and English speakers.

The subscription VOD (SVOD) service, which launched in 2013, is now available on over 12,000 different mobile and fixed Internet enabled devices including PCs, Macs, smart phones, tablets, smart TVs and gaming consoles.

This year, Icflix co-produced Nour Eddine Lakhmari’s film Burnout, which went on theatrical release in October across Morocco. The movie will join other Arabic originals WHO!, Dunia, Borders of Heaven, HIV and Al Makida on the MENA SVOD service.

“Icflix’s prime focus has always been original Arabic programming, as there is always a constant demand for local content. We want to ensure that we cater to the needs of the local market,” Carlos Tibi, CEO, Icflix, said at the time.
