Online video platform iQIYI has acquired rights in China to stream six Golden Globe 2018-nominated films, including The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

In addition, iQIYI will stream the Blue Sky animation Ferdinand, and The Greatest Showman, which could claim the award for best motion picture (musical or comedy) and best actor (musical or comedy) for Hugh Jackman.

Molly’s Game, starring Jessica Chastain, nominated for Best Actress (drama), and Battle of the Sexes, staring Emma Stone, nominated for Best Actress (musical or comedy) and Steve Carell, nominated for Best Actor (musical or comedy), will also feature on the Baidu-owned digital entertainment platform.

Last year’s multi-award winners Moonlight and La La Land have previously been acquired by iQIYI for its video-on-demand (VOD) platform in China.

The company says that in addition to ongoing cooperation with international studios such as Fox, Disney, Sony, Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros, and Lionsgate, it is also building a strong library of Chinese and other language videos.

The martial arts series Machine Knight 2 produced by IQIYI and CCTV-6 has been released in Korea, North America and Japan, and will be screened at some theatres in North America and Japan. In January, the iQIYI produced original movie Murder Without Forgiveness will also be released globally.
