Quint-play packages with pay-TV have increased in price by 15% over the last year, Spain’s Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has revealed.
As pay-TV continues growing at an unprecedented pace, driven by convergent, IP-based services, operators have started to increase their rates. According to the CNMC, the average price of quint-play packages (fixed voice and broadband, mobile voice and data, and pay-TV) reached €79.1 by June 2017, a 15% more than a year before.
Quint-play offerings are subscribed by almost a third of Spanish homes, the report has pointed out.
For those convergent packages without pay-TV, prices have increased by 13% to reach an average €54.2.
Despite the increasingly expensive service, pay-TV has registered record growth over the last two years, said the CNMC. The service has reached a 30% penetration after growing by 25% since June 2015.
