Indian media giant Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) is reported to be on the verge of launching its new digital entertainment platform ZEE5 with mobile operators Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL and Z5.

The new digital platform will replace the existing subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) and advertisement-based video-on-demand (AVOD) platforms DittoTV and OZEE, whose subscribers will be auto-upgraded to the new platform.
A range of subscription plans for the service are also to be offered to iOS users, ranging in price from a monthly live TV plan for INR30 or INR250 a year, or an SVOD plan for INR99 a month or INR199 a year, according to the online publication.
“With the launch of ZEE5, we will consolidate our OTT offering. It will be the single destination for all our content and the core base for our digital business now and in the future,” said Amit Goenka, CEO international business, ZEEL.
Axinom will power the backend of the new entertainment platform, which in addition to ZEEL’s 80 TV channels, will access to Zee’s library of over 240,000 hours of television content and rights to more than 4,200 movie titles across various languages. Content will be offered in English, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati and Bhojpuri.
The service will offer advertising, subscription and transactional-based models, to encourage monetisation and user engagement from audiences worldwide.
