UK-based media, broadcast and telecommunications services provider D2 has selected ATEME’s TITAN solution to enable country-wide DTT services to encode more than 150 channels and deliver premium video.

ateme 13Dec2017D2 calls itself a challenger brand in broadcast service delivery, providing end-to-end service management, service provider consultancy, bid support for rights holders and spectrum management. ATEME provided D2 with a complete video headend, which included the software-based TITAN Live, Mux and ATEME Management System (AMS). As part of the selection process, the TITAN Live encoder and TITAN Mux have been validated at the DTG test facility for use on the UK Freeview network. The TITAN Live is the only software-based encoder currently tested at the facility.

“After evaluating several solutions, the bandwidth efficiency and video quality offered by ATEME’s TITAN, alongside a software-based system approach, met our requirements perfectly,” said D2 MD Kevin Moroney. Technical and operational director Dan Cherowbrier added: “The performance and flexibility of ATEME’s D2 solution matched perfectly with our ambition for the next generation of DTT compression not tied to discrete hardware components. The fact that they now have a UK office with experienced sales, design and support teams made us even more confident that ATEME was the right choice.”
