The pay-TV market continues to grow in Argentina, breaking both subscriber and penetration records, primarily driven by cable providers.

enacom tv paga 13 december 2017According to the latest figures from the country’s telecom authority, Enacom, pay-TV reached 9.36 million homes by September 2017, almost 200,000 more than at the beginning of the year, meaning that nearly 70% of Argentina’s households now have a pay-TV subscription.

As the most mature market in Latin America, Argentinean pay-TV growth has been slow, but steady, in recent years, with most growth experienced by cable providers and, specifically, by Cablevision.

According to Enacom, cable TV reached 6.77 million homes by the end of Q3 2017, up by 220,000 since January.

However, direct-to-home (DTH) providers totalled 2.59 million households, down by almost 40,000 during the first nine months of the year.

Argentina is also one of the countries in Latin America with highest adoption of over-the-top (OTT) and video-on-demand (VOD) services. According to the latest reports, 66% of the country’s Internet homes regularly watch OTT content.
