Sony ESPN is to air the nascent T10 Cricket League (TCL) in India, after acquiring the media rights for the UAE event that runs from 14-17 December 2017.

T10 CL 11 Dec 2017Sony Pictures Network (SPN) India has won both the broadcast and digital rights to the first ICC-approved ten-over-a-side cricket tournament, TCL chairman Shaji-ul-Mulk told Indiantelevision.com.

The league will also be available on the ARY digital network in the US and UK, Channel 9 in Bangladesh, Ten Sports and GEO TV in Pakistan, and OSN across the Middle East and North Africa.

TCL, which will be played in Sharjah Cricket Stadium, comprises six franchises: Punjabi Legends, Pakhtoons, Bengal Tigers, Team Sri Lanka Cricket, Maratha Arabians and Kerala Kings. The first edition will have 13 matches with ten overs a side and 90 minutes of play per match.

The league hopes to “match the best sporting action in the world” in its 90-minute format, and give “a product to the fans that they can relate to,” said Shaji-ul-Mulk.
