Sky has reached an agreement with LaLiga to add live sports to its recently deployed over-the-top (OTT) platform in Spain.

sky laliga 07 november 2017Under the terms of the deal, Sky subscribers will gain access to ten live games of LaLiga’s second division, LaLiga 1l2l3, and the remainder on-demand.

The programming will be available across connected and mobile devices and will be included in Sky’s €10 package, with no price increase.

“We are increasing our offering to deliver what our audience demands. Adding LaLiga 1l2l3 will enable our users to enjoy some of the most exciting games in Spain, along with the rest of our linear and on-demand offering,” said David Núñez, director of market development, Sky España

LaLiga will join other linear, live channels included in Sky’s OTT platform, such as FOX, TNT, SyFy and 11 other pay-TV networks. In addition, the service includes 3,000 hours of video-on-demand (VOD) content.

“By bringing LaLiga 1l2l3 to Sky, we hope more people will discover the excitement of this competition,” added Javier Tebas, president, LaLiga. “In addition, working with an OTT service proves our commitment to developing new channels to deliver football to our audience.”

Throughout 2018, Sky has also announced that it will start using the OTT service has an exclusive premiere window in Spain for its original productions, such as Discovery of Witches, Save Me and Melrose.
