Expectations for media advertising growth in Spain in 2017 and 2018 are less optimistic than a year ago, except for pay-TV, where investment is set to increase, according to Zenith Media.

tv paga 05 december 2017Globally, the Spanish advertising market will end 2017 up by 2.6%, the company has revealed. Free-to-air (FTA) TV, which is the largest player in the advertising market, was expected to grow by 2.5%, but will finally close the year up 2.2%.

Even online video and mobile have reduced expectations, though double-digit growth is still forecast for mobile.

Driven by a growing subscriber base and increasing revenues, pay-TV will finish the year drawing more advertising investment than expected, according to Zenith Media, with advertisers spending 7.7% more than a year ago, more than the January forecast of 7.1%.

As for 2018, Zenith Media places pay-TV among the four media industries which will see the largest growth in advertising income. Mobile will grow by 11.4%, online video by 8.9%, digital by 7.8% and pay-TV by 6.2%.
