Before launching its next-gen TV everywhere service in other Latin American territories, Millicom is aiming to increase Tigo ONE TV’s presence in Colombia.

According to Milllicom’s Colombian subsidiary, the TiVo-powered service will be launched in Tunja, following significant investment in the hybrid-fibre-coaxial (HFC) network.

The move will enable Tigo subscribers in the area to access pay-TV and over-the-top (OTT) content through a single hybrid TV system running across set-top boxes (STBs) and any connected device.

“TigoUne has changed the way in which we’re watching TV through Tigo ONE TV. It’s very important for us to bring such innovative technologies to every corner of the market,” said Santiago Londoño, EVP, TigoUne.

Colombia is the first market in which Millicom launched the innovative TV product , following a Latin American agreement with TiVo.

According to the telco’s strategy unveiled in September, Tigo ONE TV will be soon released in other Latin American territories, including Bolivia, Paraguay and most of Central America.
