Canadian children’s entertainment leader Guru Studio has made two senior additions to its management team.

Former Disney executive, Kara Lord Piersimoni, (pictured) joins Guru as vice president of production, while Daniel Rattner takes on the new role of senior director of marketing and branding.

Lord Piersimoni brings more than two decades of experience in global content production, including stints at Walt Disney Feature Animation, Digital Domain and DisneyToon Studios. Most recently she was an executive producer for Warner Animation Group for the LEGO movie franchise and joins Guru from her position as senior director of production at Sparkhouse Studios. In her new role she will have direct responsibility for managing all Guru’s production-related activities.

Rattner joins Guru with more than a decade of marketing and brand development experience. Most recently he was director of marketing at Mazu, a leader in safe online experiences for young fans. Here he led strategy and launch campaigns for partners across the National Hockey League, National Football League and National Basketball Association. Prior to this, he was a global brand manager at Spin Master overseeing a portfolio of brands across the boys’ action toy category. At Guru, Rattner will oversee the company’s corporate marketing and communications strategy and lead the promotional efforts for Guru’s animated and interactive IP.

Both new executives will report to Guru Studio president and executive creative director Frank Falcone and be based in Toronto. “Kara and Daniel bring significant experience to our business,” said Falcone remarked. “Kara’s knowledge of the kids’ content world is exceptional. We are thrilled to have her level of talent at Guru. Daniel will be leading our global marketing efforts and his experience across digital, entertainment and consumer products will continue to drive the growth of our brands around the world.”
