Brazil’s TIM is to launch a mobile broadband service with video-only data to boost access to Netflix, Cartoon Network Ja!, Esporte Interativo Plus and Looke.

Depending on the post-paid subscription, TIM clients can have 7GB, 10GB, 15GB or 50GB of mobile data to use to watch video on one of the selected platforms. According to the telco, more over-the-top (OTT) services may be included in future.

In addition, TIM Pós Plus C subscribers will gain free access to Cartoon Network Ja! and Esporte Interativo, while TIM Pós Plus D and E subscribers will also have access to Looke. Netflix subscription will not be included in any package.

Through this move, the Telecom Italia company aims to add value to its mobile packages, breaking net neutrality to prioritise video consumption through the most popular streaming platforms.
