In what is being described as a landmark multi-year partnership, Turner Sports is to make live major league basketball action available in virtual reality using Intel True VR technology.

IntelTurner 8Nov2017The move, which begins with the NBA All-Star 2018, will enable fans to experience the action from unique locations in basketball arenas with a virtual reality game experience available through a forthcoming NBA on TNT VR app on Samsung GearVR and Google Daydream headsets for download via the Oculus and Google Play stores.

Viewers of the NBA on TNT games can be transported courtside to sit knee-to-knee with celebrities or up in the stands for a bird’s-eye view. The deal will also see Intel partnering with the NBA to become an authorised provider of virtual reality and 360° volumetric video with Intel freeDTM technology for official NBA broadcast partners globally.
