YouTube Kids video-on-demand (VOD) service has released new customisation options and increased parental control in most of the Americas and selected Asian, African territories.

The platform now enables users to create kid profiles to customise the experience of each child, with profiles working across different devices, and the app design will also be age-specific.

The latest release of YouTube Kids includes a new parent set-up process giving detailed information to help them make the right choices before children use the app. It also makes it possible to set a pass code for each profile.

The new features have been released for most Latin American territories, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, as well as the US and Canada. It has also been launched in several African and Asian territories, such as Ghana, India, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa and South Korea.

According to Alphabet, YouTube Kids is now running across 37 countries, and has more than 70 billion views in the app, and over 11 million weekly active viewers.
