US cable company Layer3 TV has inked what is being described as a major distribution deal with Insight TV, the first time that the action sports, entertainment and lifestyle content provider has taken its Ultra HD programming to the country.

InsightLayer3 23Oct2017Founded in 2013 by cable veterans Jeff Binder and Dave Fellows, Layer3 TV has a content roster currently including distribution partners such as Fox Networks Group, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, Turner, NBCUniversal, Viacom, CBS, Discovery, HBO, Showtime, EPIX and Scripps Networks Interactive, as well as local television broadcasters, regional sports networks and major studios.

The agreement will see Insight TV available to Layer3 TV subscribers on channel 115 in Denver, Chicago, Washington, DC, Los Angeles and Dallas in 4K UHD, launching with shows such as King of the Hammers, Life of Cards and Secrets of the Brain. Each of Layer3 TV’s current subscribers has a 4K-enabled set-top box and with the addition of Insight TV, Layer3 TV will now be carrying two 24/7 4K networks, a growing library of 4K UHD On Demand content and access to live 4K events including Fox Sports’ 4K college football coverage and the June Bellator NYC mixed martial arts fight night. More than half of Layer3 TV subscribers have watched 4K live or on-demand. In addition, most of the 4K/Utra HD on-demand programmes rank among the top ten most-viewed titles within 48 hours of becoming available.
