mediapro laliga 19 october 2017According to Jaume Roures, founder of the Barcelona-based production house, speaking to EFE, the final agreement is expected to be reached within three months.

The investment of Orient Hontai Capital follows the intention of several current shareholders to sell their stakes in Mediapro. Although no names have been disclosed, Torreal (23%), Televisa (19%) and one of the founders, Gerard Romy (11%), have all previously indicated their intention to leave the company.

Roures told EFE that he and Taxto Benet will continue to head Mediapro, which owns and manages global La Liga rights and has formed a joint venture with beIN Media Group in Spain.

Roures added that Mediapro’s interest in China and the Asian markets has nothing to do with Orient Hontai Capital’s interest and is simply in line with the company’s strategy.
