Brazilian content giant Globo will be premiering Rock Story for the international audience at MIPCOM 2017.

rock story globo 13 october 2017The company aims to reproduce the soap opera’s success in Brazil around the globe, as Rock Story drew over 48 million viewers and took a 49% audience share during its last episode in its home country.

Since it launched in Brazil, the show averaged over 37 million viewers, and a 44% of the audience share. On social media, the series saw more than 31,000 online comments during its premiere.

The telenovela features the story of former rock star (Vladimir Brichta) and the choices he faces in his quest to climb back to the top and turn his life around.

According to the show’s writer, Maria Helena Nascimento: “‘Rock Story tells a story of imperfect people who made mistakes but manage to take control and somehow make things right. It brings a message of hope and new possibilities; that even the most serious mistakes can be fixed.”

In addition to Globo, the Brazilian content industry will be represented at MIPCOM 2017 by over 40 production houses under the umbrella of the Brazilian Content pavilion.
