YuppTV will soon be available to Vodafone Play mobile and Hathway broadband customers in India, following two more distribution deals for the South Asian over-the-top (OTT) video platform.

Hathway MD Rajan Gupta 13 Oct 2017“With mobiles becoming the preferred screen for entertainment, the average time spent on smartphones daily is significantly higher than TV, demonstrating that the engagement levels provided by smartphones remain unparalleled,” explained Avneesh Khosla, associate director of consumer business, Vodafone India. “Our customers are constantly seeking diverse content options, especially regional content. Through this partnership, Vodafone Play subscribers get a wider choice.”

Meanwhile, the content partnership with Hathway Cable and Datacom will enable customers to access 250 live TV channels via a monthly subscription to YuppTV. Content on the OTT platform is offered in 14 national and regional languages from across South Asia.

“The entertainment control has shifted to the consumers who can decide what they want to watch at their convenience on multiple devices. The key is high-speed broadband and affordable price point,” said Rajan Gupta (pictured), MD, Hathway Cable and Datacom.

Earlier this year, Hathway Cable and Datacom announced plans to spend almost INR5 billion in the next three years to offer high-speed broadband and wired Internet to cope, in part, with the rising consumption of online video.
