Nour Eddine Lakhmari’s film Burnout is now on theatrical release across Morocco, following production investment from Middle East streaming video service ICFLIX.

icflix BURNOUT poster 13 Oct 2017Burnout, co-produced by ICFLIX with NEL Films, is the final part of a trilogy that also comprises the movies Zero and Casanegra. It follows a politician who tries to fill his lack of tenderness by the paid services of a young woman, 25-year old Aida, a student of medicine who leads a double life; Jad, a 40-year-old entrepreneur and his 28-year-old wife, Ghita; and Ayoub, a 13-year-old shoe-shiner, who dreams of buying a prosthetic leg for his disabled mother

“Burnout is a film about the sacrifice and courage of ordinary people confronted with extraordinary situations, where social and economic problems intensify their distress,” said writer and director Lakhmari.

Burnout stars Anas El Baz, Ilyas El Jihani, Morjana Alaoui, Fatima Ezzahra El Jaouhari and Sarah Perles.

The first ICFLIX production from Morocco, Burnout will soon join other Arabic originals WOH!, Dunia, Borders of Heaven, HIV and Al Makida on the Middle East and North African subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service.

“ICFLIX’s prime focus has always been original Arabic programming, as there is always a constant demand for local content. We want to ensure that we cater to the needs of the local market,” said Carlos Tibi, CEO, ICFLIX.
