Premium streaming service for Spanish-language films Pantaya has inked a mobile video deal for the US market with operator Sprint.

pantaya 11 oct 2017Sprint is offering a 45-day trial for the service, which is a partnership between Lionsgate and media conglomerate Hemisphere Media Group. Pantaya offers Spanish-language films from Latin America and Hollywood; exclusive and first-run access to all Spanish-language releases from Pantelion Films, a joint venture between Lionsgate and Televisa; and a selection of films that will be available for streaming the same day they premiere in Latin America, a US first.

“We’re honoured to become the first carrier to work with Pantaya and to provide our customers unparalleled access to Spanish-language movies to stream on their terms,” said Alberto Lorente, vice president of multicultural marketing at Sprint. “Sprint has seen a significant growth among its Hispanic customers streaming content on their smartphones. Our collaboration with Pantaya is one of Sprint’s many dedicated efforts to bring our customers closer to their passions and helps further our mission of working to meet their wants and needs.”

Sprint and Pantaya also are raising money for the 1Million Project via an online auction. Items offered at the auction will include unique VIP experiences, star-studded film premieres and meet-and-greets.
