The app will begin to roll out across multiple platforms and devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, Now TV, mobile platforms iOS, Android, Windows 8 and smart TVs such as Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba and LG. Following the launch, the app will exclusively premiere Barcroft-produced content 24 hours before it appears on Barcroft TV’s YouTube channel, which features over 3.25 million subscribers, and other channels that license Barcroft content.
The company says the launch of the app is its latest concerted direct to consumer push in its mission to become the home of ‘amazing’ true stories. “We are fast becoming the factual TV brand for the digital generation. Linear channels have largely abandoned commissioning factual programming for the under 30s which gives us a huge opportunity,” remarked CEO Sam Barcroft. “We understand our audience, and as we approach the milestone of three billion YouTube views on BTV, we feel the time’s right to make it easier to enjoy our content wherever you are, whenever you want.”
