MultiChoice is set to make its DStv Now streaming video platform available to all subscribers by the end of the year.

DStv Now 25 Sept 2017By Christmas, DStv customers with lower-priced bouquets such as Family, Access and EasyView will be able to access live DStv channels and on-demand content through the digital platform, said Graeme Cumming, the company’s head of digital media according to local reports. Currently the digital platform is only available for subscribers to the DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact packages.

MultiChoice claims a 140% rise in monthly access users to DStv Now in the past year. SuperSport 1, 2, 3 and 6, plus M-Net, KykNet Idols and Mzansi Magic are among the most popular channels on the platform, while the most popular shows are Game of Thrones, Binnelanders, The Queen and Isibaya.

Internet video views of content on the platform have risen 361% and app video plays have recorded a 264% increase year-on-year, said Cumming.

MultiChoice has added 26 channels to DStv Now in the past 12 months, with Comedy Central recently becoming the latest addition. News channel eNCA, along with the SABC and free-to-air channels have also been added.
