As a result of its Latin American partnership with TiVo, Colombia’s Millicom subsidiary TigoUne has launched a convergent, TV everywhere platform that integrates linear pay-TV and over-the-top (OTT) platforms.

tigo one tv 18 september 2017Tigo ONE TV targets the multiscreen consumer through a single platform that delivers access to Tigo’s traditional pay-TV services, streaming and video-on-demand (VOD) platforms like Crackle and HBO, and online video services such as YouTube.

The hybrid TV everywhere service will be gradually extended across other Latin American countries in which Millicom Tigo operates a pay-TV operation. The announcement follows the development partnership signed with TiVo two years ago.

“According to the latest figures, 53% of Colombian homes are connected to the Internet and nine in ten TV sets sold last year were smart. With Tigo ONE TV we aim precisely to address both markets, building a bridge between traditional TV and video streaming,” said Marcelo Cataldo, president, TigoUne.

In addition to integrate content from all the different services into a single platform, Tigo ONE TV has added a big data, content recommendation feature and a cloud-based, catch-up and DVR service. In addition, it delivers seamless content access across different screens and simultaneous streams.

The service has been launched as an add-on to TigoUne’s convergent packages and includes one-month free trial of FOX and HBO streaming services and a three-month free subscription to Sony’s Crackle.
