Country manager Abner Briandt said he was proud to introduce iflix to Ghana, which he said offers “the most diversified SVOD content portfolio in Africa, a good mix of Hollywood, Ghallywood and Nollywood movies and TV shows plus a dedicated kids section, download and watch later feature, pause or rewind, watch on your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop or TV”.

He added: “The list goes on and on and you get all this at a very affordable price. So, people get ready, iflix is primed to revolutionise the way residents of Ghana consume entertainment.”

Western TV shows available on iflix include Suits, Vikings, Top Gear, Mad Men, Bates Motel, Mr Robot, Fargo, Being Mary Jane, Teen Wolf, Medici Masters of Florence and Luther. In addition, Ghanaian dramas and variety shows include African Tales-Bleeding Heart, Wo Taa Ta Me, Bitter Chocolate, Rainstorm, and Almighty.

One month’s unlimited access to iflix will cost GHC10.75 (US$2.4), while an annual subscription will cost GHC86 ($19.4) a year.

The Kuala-Lumpur based SVOD service teamed earlier this year with Econet Media’s broadcasting arm Kwesé to develop entertainment services in sub Saharan Africa. The companies say they have “committed extensive resources...to capitalise on the opportunity to serve Africa’s diverse markets”.

iflix is now available to over one billion consumers across 22 territories throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
