Australia Day, a Hoodlum production for Foxtel, will be the first title released under the new distribution model. The Kriv Stenders-directed film will appear in cinemas on 21 September and then be available one week later via ‘Express from Cinema’ in Foxtel Store and on Dendy Direct on 27 September.

Australia Day is the perfect title to lead our expanded Foxtel Store offering, making a great Australian feature available to homes around the country one week after cinema. Australia Day joins thousands of movie titles available on Foxtel Store across IQ2+ and HD boxes”.
The film, premiered at Sydney Film Festival, was filmed exclusively in Brisbane with investment from Screen Queensland. It stars Matthew Le Nevez (The Kettering Incident), Shari Sebbens (The Sapphires, The Gods of Wheat Street), Sean Keenan (Glitch and Puberty Blues), Daniel Webber (The Punisher), Elias Anton (Barracuda), and Jenny Wu (Top Of The Lake, China Girl).
As the nation celebrates National Day with barbecues and beach parties, the movie interweaves the stories of three Australians from diverse backgrounds – 14-year-old Indigenous girl, April (Madden); 17-year-old Iranian-Australian boy, Sami (Anton) and 19-year-old Chinese teen, Lan (Jenny Wu, pictured).
