OTMC, a Shenzhen-based publically listed company, told the stock exchange that Huahua will join and augment its family of subsidiaries. Together, the companies will coordinate development across content, channels and platforms.

As well as content distribution platforms and channels, OTMC also offers production facilities, theatre, television and other media arms. The deal will consolidate their resources.

Huahau Media will bring expertise in the international market to OTMC, specialising in the import of films, along with their marketing and distribution in China. It has recently invested in Hollywood movies Star Trek Beyond, Jack Reacher, Allied and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage.

Recent initiatives by OTMC to introduce Chinese shows around the world include providing content for Silk Road Television, a dedicated satellite channel in Thailand, which launched in 2016.
