Spanish production house Zinkia Entertainment has reached an agreement with Aqui Media to boost Pocoyo’s brand in Japan.
As a result of the deal, Japanese audiences will gain access to Pocoyo’s first three seasons through all the platforms managed by Aqui Media, including linear TV and streaming subscription video-on-demand (SVOD).
The alliance also includes the exclusive management of licensing rights across a wide variety of categories such as toys, publishing and apparel. Aqui Media will also be responsible for carrying out local promotions, advertising and the production of live show events.
The deal is part of Zinkia’s strategy to achieve a global repositioning of Pocoyo which includes activity in 12 key territories, including Japan.
Alberto Delgado, CEO of Zinkia, said: “It is an important strategic move for the company. We are happy to work with Aqui Media in this new stage of Pocoyo in Japan. Aqui Media has made important inroads into the local animation industry and has the knowledge of Japanese culture Pocoyo needs.”
Aqui Media's founder and CEO, Jesus Perezagua, added: “Pocoyo's high production values added to its educational and entertaining profile fits perfectly with Aqui Media's proposal, as it does with our company mission to offer the Japanese pre-school audience the best selection of international content available.”
