eurosport 4july2017After an extension of the carriage deal between the telco and Discovery Communications, Swisscom is to be exclusive distribution partner for the Eurosport Player in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

As part of a commitment by the content giant to bring more premium content to consumers, the deal will see the entire Discovery portfolio and newly acquired premium live sport on Eurosport, most notably exclusive Friday night Bundesliga football, available for Swisscom viewers. Subscribers will be able to purchase an on-demand digital sports pass, providing the gateway to sport events including the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and 40 exclusive Bundesliga football matches a season, as well as the curtain-raising Super Cup and four end-of-season relegation play-off fixtures.

In addition, Swisscom and Teleclub subscribers will now have access to the Eurosport Player, the online TV streaming and catch-up service for sports content, available anytime and across all devices. “We’re pleased to build on our partnership agreement and now also offer all Swisscom and Teleclub customers a discounted rate to Eurosport Player, delivering premium locally relevant sports content to consumers at home, online and on the go,” commented Alberto Horta, VP strategy and commercial development, Discovery Networks Germany

Discovery’s factual entertainment channels will still be available as Italian language versions, with Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 additionally in German and French. Furthermore, consumers will still be able to enjoy the content available on the free TV channels DMAX, TLC and Eurosport 1.
