In a much-anticipated move a year ahead of the World Cup’s kick-off, DirecTV has announced its broadcasting strategy towards Russia 2018 World Cup football tournament.

rusia 2018 01 july 2017The AT&T company will deliver all 64 games live across Latin America through DirecTV Sports, from both linear pay-TV platforms and streaming apps.

DirecTV will count on an on-field team across 12 stadiums and 11 cities. Lead by presenters Juan Pablo Varsky and Pablo Giralt, the team will be similar to the one currently covering the Confederations Cup, also from Russia.

In addition to the live broadcasting, DirecTV will air to exclusive daily shows focused on the World Cup’s action, Mundial Total and Central Deportivo, along with over 1,000 hours of original content, some of which is also to be available on-demand for mobile and connected devices.

The announcement comes much earlier than for other World Cup editions. For Brazil 2014, DirecTV kept the details from the public until a couple of months before the tournament kicked off.
