HBO Go is now to be available as an independent subscription-based video-on-demand (VOD) service in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela and the Caribbean.
The launch means HBO Go will be working as a standalone service for the entire Spanish-speaking Latin America. Among the region's leading markets, the service will only remain bundled to pay-TV subscriptions in Brazil.
In those countries in which the service had been released before through commercial partnerships, namely Colombia, Mexico and Argentina, the platform will be delivered in both ways.
“We want everybody in the region to have easy access to our content,” said Francisco Smith, SVP, HBO Latin America. “Through this launch, we are giving Latin Americans more options to watch HBO content through multiple screens, at home or on-the-go.”
The streaming platform is available on Android and iOS app stores and also supports synchronisation with Apple TV, Chromecast and Xbox 360 through Xbox Live.
