Expanding Crackle’s LATAM reach, Sony Picture Television Networks is launching the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in Argentina.

Thus, through an agreement with Gigared, a telco operating in the north of the country, Sony is entering the Argentinean video sector, Latin America’s most penetrated pay-TV market.

Initially available for Gigared subscribers in Paraná, Santa Fé, Corrientes, Resistencia and Posadas, both broadband and pay-TV clients will be able to subscribe to the standalone service.

“The launch marks Crackle’s entrance into Argentina and provides Gigared with a turnkey service to deliver some of the world’s best titles to its customers,” said José Rivera Font, VP and GM, SPT Digital Networks, Latin America.

“Crackle complements our TV offering with a wide catalogue of popular original series, TV shows and films available on-demand, which our subscribers can watch on Gigared’s platform or through their preferred device,” added Carlos Granzotto, GM, Gigared.

The service will be integrated in Gigared’s pay-TV platform and will also be available for Gigared’s subscribers through its own mobile iOS and Android apps as well as crackle.com.ar.

The announcement follows the launch of Crackle on Ecuador’s TV Cable last week. The SVOD service is also available in Mexico and Brazil.
