The non-profit organisation which aims to define commercialisation and technology procedures for the SAT>IP standard has been reinforced with the addition of Irdeto and Verimatrix.

satip technology 01 june 2017Announced at ANGA COM, the move aims to drive improvements in the area of digital rights management (DRM), with both Irdeto and Verimatrix being experts in content security.

“With the integration of CAS-to-DRM solutions into the SAT>IP standard we are making it much easier for pay-TV operators to take live broadcast television content onto in-home IP networks,” said Thomas Wrede, president of the SAT>IP Alliance. “And we invite manufacturers of SAT>IP equipment to support our efforts and to join the Alliance.”

The alliance already includes major European satellite operators including Eutelsat, SES and Hispasat, and TV industry leaders such as Nagra, MaxLinear and Panasonic. In recent years, 45 industry partners have supported the SAT>IP standard, developing over 80 different products that are compatible with it.
