Radio Televisión Argentina (RTA) is to reorganise the free-to-air (FTA) DTT line-up in order to free up space for more live signals.

According to the national news agency Telam, public channels and nationwide news networks will have a preferential option in the tender, expected to take place in November.
Currently, four frequency slots, divide into four signals each, are managed by the Sistema Federal de Medios y Contenidos Públicos. Among these 16 signals with countrywide reach, there are the four public FTA channels, Televisión Pública Argentina (TPVA), Canal Encuentro, Paka Paka and Deportv.
Although the country hasn’t yet completed its digital switchover, the DTT signal covers over 80% of Argentina’s population. The deployment of digital TV infrastrcutre has recently slowed down, with the switch-off being scheduled for December 2019.
