India’s leading English language news television channels have stopped inserting the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) watermark in their signals following a major disagreement.

BARC’s latest audience ratings showed that Republic TV, which launched operations on 6 May 2017, had already captured more than 52% of the English news sector’s market.

According to the data for week 19 (from 6-12 May), Arnab Goswami-headed Republic TV had 2117 weekly impressions, while Times Now had 1148. These were followed by NDTV 24x7 (with 352), India Today Television (350) and CNN News18 (315).
