Vodafone is adding Sony Pictures Television and Paramount Pictures’ video-on-demand (VOD) Ultra HD content as it launches Funbox UHD in partnership with SPI International.

In addition, 52 other Sony Pictures films will feed the regular subscription VOD (SVOD) catalogue, some of which will be available on 4K.
As for Funbox UHD, the linear channel carries a mix of native Ultra HD documentaries, performing arts programming, extreme adventure and lifestyle content as well as movies and TV series.
“SPI is focusing on making as much native Ultra HD content as possible available via this channel, and we are only showing those programmes that have a high production value and can deliver outstanding visual highlights for the viewers,” said Raymond Van Der Vliet, director of distribution in Western Europe, SPI International.
“Vodafone’s bet on 4K is expanded with these agreements, through which we’ll add some of the latest films to our VOD catalogue and include some well known movies that we think can make the most out of 4K,” said Ignacio García-Legaz, director, Vodafone TV.
The British telco has the largest Ultra HD offer in Spain, including live events, such as selected 4K La Liga matches, four linear UHDTV channels produced by Insight TV and VOD content.
