Satellite operator ABS has co-branded its 2A satellite as the MongolSat-1 satellite, with part of its payload dedicated to the Mongolian direct-to-home (DTH) TV market.

ABS 2A MogolSat 1 MP of Mongolia CEO ABS 21 April 2017MongolSat-1’s 12×27 MHz channel capacity will be used exclusively to launch a free nationwide digital satellite TV service, telecommunications and broadband services. The new services will be available throughout Mongolia.

“ABS is especially honoured and pleased to be able to co-brand part of the ABS-2A payload as MongolSat-1. ABS is very excited to be part of, and assist in, the dynamic growth of the Mongolian satellite market, as well as assist in its rural development in addressing the digital divide,” said Tom Choi (pictured, right), CEO, ABS.

“Our goal is to deliver extremely affordable satellite services that benefit the entire society of Mongolia,” he added.

The co-branding of the satellite was announced at a ceremony in Ulaanbaatar, attended by Mongolian Prime Minister Erdenebat Jargaltulga (pictured, centre) and Enkhbold Miyegombo, chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia.
