Pan-Asian TV channel operator Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) is bringing its Mandarin edutainment app Miao Mi to children in the US and Canada.

Miao Mi App 20 April 2017Based on CTE’s pan-Asian pay-TV channel of the same name, the Miao Mi mobile app features more than 500 videos to encourage children aged three to six to learn Mandarin. It will roll out in Asia in the third quarter of 2017.

CTE says the Miao Mi app has a child-friendly navigation interface and English/Mandarin language support. Kids can enjoy shows such as Pleasant Goat Fun Class, an educational series featuring beloved characters from the Pleasant Goat franchise, and Star Babies, the animated series inspired by Chinese icons such as Bruce Lee and the Monkey King. In addition, CTE production Miao Mi Classroom teaches Mandarin through animated flash cards and songs.

“More people speak Chinese than any other language. Miao Mi is the only app that offers the next generation a fully immersive Mandarin learning experience. Parents now have a tool to give their kids a head start in learning a language that is becoming increasingly important,” said Todd Miller, CEO of Celestial Tiger Entertainment.

The app is now available on the App Store in the US and Canada, and will be on Google Play in May. In the US, the Miao Mi TV channel is also available as a streaming on demand service on Amazon Channels. The app can be offered as a standalone service or an authenticated service together with the subscription of the linear channel.
