Barcelona-based Mediapro has selected Sony’s latest Ultra HD technology to revamp its live sports event production and broadcasting.

sony mediapro futbol 20 april 2017As one of the leaders in 4K production in Europe, Mediapro has added HDR features to its equipment as well as finding a technical solution that was more efficient and reliable for IP-based remote production.

As part of the agreement with Sony, Mediapro purchased 33 4K cameras HDC-4300, three PWS-4500 video servers with Ultra HD capabilities, a XVS-8000 video mixer, two BCM-X300 OLED 4K screens and one PVM-X550 55” OLED monitor.

“Our first experience with the HDC-4300 cameras has been very positive,” said Francisco José de la Fuente, head of the outside broadcasting (OB) area, Mediapro. “It’s undeniable that 4K is going to take the lead, especially regarding football events, which is one of the most important audience drivers.”

In fact, sports production is also one of the largest business areas for the Spanish company, according to its recently released financial figures.

During recent years, Mediapro has gradually introduced 4K broadcasting into the Spanish football scene, becoming a premium partner of La Liga and leading the industry in Ultra HD production.
