Broadcast technology and services provider Ericsson is to unveil new broadcasting solutions it says will streamline control of all processing elements using a micro-services architecture, cutting time to market and offering increased operator flexibility.

ericsson broadcast media services 31 May 2016 3In addition, the MediaFirst Management Controller and version 8.1 of the MediaFirst Encoding Live product are claimed to be able to optimise OPEX costs and enable transition towards what Ericsson calls a holistic, agile software architecture. Moreover Ericsson believes that they will allow operators to capitalise on consumer demand for new services in areas such as Ultra HD, virtual and augmented reality, along with new revenue-generating opportunities like dynamic ad insertion.
