The long awaited joint venture (JV) factual entertainment channel Sony BBC Earth will be available in India from the evening of 6 March, its founders have confirmed.

BBC Planet Earth II iconicThe regulatory-approved partnership, first announced in September 2015, will combine Sony Pictures Network (SPN) India’s channel operational and distribution experience with BBC Worldwide’s strong catalogue of – and reputation for – factual programming.

The channel will provide over 500 million SPN viewers across India with shows featuring BBC Earth personalities Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, Ben Fogle, Dr Michael Mosley and Gordon Buchanan. Key launch programming includes The Hunt, Where The Wild Men Are with Ben Fogle, Trust Me I’m A Doctor, Snow Chick and the iconic series, Planet Earth II.

Sony BBC Earth will be available in both standard and high definition, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
