Discovery Communications has created a new exclusive Olympic Games partnership opportunity for mobile operators through the launch of what it is calling the first Official Mobile Broadcaster product.
The media giant and its Eurosport business are the exclusive TV and multimedia rights holders for 50 countries and territories in Europe for the 2018 through to the 2024 Olympic Games. In addition to broadcasting through their own estate, they are striking partnerships with other distributors across Europe
At Mobile World Congress, the firms launched the new Official Mobile Broadcaster designation to give mobile providers the exclusive opportunity to co-brand and offer their customers anytime access to all the action. The service will be customised to drive engagement, with an operator-branded 24/7 channel featuring real-time highlights and news, in addition to exclusive on-demand content, and the ability to take this content to social platforms. The opportunities will be available before, during and after the Olympic Games.
