Clarovideo failed to deliver the live streaming signal of the Mexico’s Clásico football match between Guadalajara Chivas and América.

chivas americaThe game’s over-the-top (OTT) signal was available through pay-per-view, but only a few users could access the live stream without interruption, a situation that generated hundreds of complaints though social media.

According to América Móvil, the OTT platform failed due to malicious traffic which demanded more accesses that the service could handle, one of the most frequently used attacks to block online services.

However, the company has not revealed the origin of such traffic, which could also have been due to the high expectation that such a game generates in Mexico.

“The technical team was aware of the interest around the Guadalajara Chivas vs. América game, and therefore took the necessary measures to guarantee users could enjoy the event,” stated the Mexican telco. “However, the result was not what expected, as an over demand of accesses took place right before the game started.”

América Móvil is said to be working to avoid this issue happening again and has stated that no users will be charged for a service that didn’t work.
