CNN en Español has transferred its entire line-up onto YouTube in order to avoid the ban by Venezuela’s pay-TV operators.

cnn espanolAs Colombia-based international news signal NTN24has been doing since it was switched off in 2014, CNN’s Spanish-language feed has taken its signal to YouTube after the Venezuelan Government pulled it from the country's cable channels.

CNN en Español went dark on 16 February following an order from the Venezuelan telecom authority Conatel.

One of the country’s main journalist unions, SNTP, also reported that Mexico’s TV Azteca has gone dark due to pressure from Conatel. Since then, the authority has repeatedly stated that the Mexican channel left the country’s cable and satellite operators due to commercial reasons.

There is a growing list of TV channels - which now includes TV Azteca, RCTV, NTN24 and CNN en Español - which are said to be coming under pressure for not being in line with the current Government.
