Multimedia entertainment studio Electus has named Jonathan South as SVP and head of Europe, Electus International.

jane the virginSouth will be based in London and report to John Pollak, president of Electus International. He will oversee sales and distribution for the United Kingdom, France and the Nordic region, as well as lead the company’s scripted co-production business in the UK. South will also serve as the main point of contact for UK third-party rights holders. Additionally, he will seek new international formats to bring to the US, following the company’s recent successes with Jane the Virgin (CW), No Tomorrow (CW) and the upcoming World’s End (TBS).

With South’s hire, Electus continues to expand its reach into Europe through the Electus International London office, a move which comes as the company prepares to take major franchise titles to market this year, including Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Bellator, and the highly anticipated series The Toy Box, which will debut on ABC in the US this spring. Electus International will also be bringing several popular returning cable series to market, including Adam Ruins Everything, Fameless and Almost Genius.

“Jonathan is an industry veteran with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to the team,” said Pollak. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to discover, develop, and distribute programming that entertains audiences around the world.”

South brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, having most recently served as head of worldwide sales and head of non-scripted and alternative programming for Televisa International. He also worked at A&E Television Networks for seven years, serving as vice president of sales, EMEA, and then SVP of content, where he developed a proven track record of delivering double-digit growth year-over-year.

Fluent in three languages, South received his degree from the University of Sheffield and holds a postgraduate degree from the University of London.
