Highly-anticipated British TV drama Taboo will premiere in the Middle East via the STARZ Play video streaming service from today (11 January).

TABOOThe eight-episode series stars Tom Hardy, who also executive produced the show and co-created it with Steven Knight, writer of Dirty Pretty Things, and creator of drama Peaky Blinders in which Hardy also starred. It is produced by Hardy Son and Baker and Scott Free London and distributed worldwide outside the UK by Sonar Entertainment.

Set in 1814, the drama follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), a man believed to be long dead, who returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father's shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father's legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence.

The series debuted in January on BBC One in the UK and cablenet FX in the US, as well as on-demand via STARZ Play in the Middle East and North Africa.
