Spain’s Marca and Claro Sports are to launch a multimedia platform in a bid to conquer Latin America’s sports media scenario.

marca claroThe most read sports news site in Spain and one of the largest sports TV channels in LATAM are to initially premiere marcaclaro.com in Mexico, with a view to building a solid position in the region’s most dynamic market. They will then expand the platform across Colombia and Brazil during 2017.

In addition to news, the platform will focus on developing local video content to address the lack of localised formats in Latin America. Targeting an increasing mobile audience, Marca Claro will premiere along with a multiscreen app for connected devices.

The service will launch with sections focused on Mexican and international football, as well as motor racing, NBA, baseball, mixed martial arts, and the US’ National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL).

“This alliance is a great step forward for both companies. It’s a first-class agreement from which our audiences will benefit,” said Juan Ignacio Gallardo, director, Marca.

While the service readies for launching in Mexico, both the Marca Claro and the Claro Sports URL have been redirected, outside Mexico, to Marca’s online newspaper.
