Despite recent efforts, La Liga has failed to top social TV conversation around European football, with the English Premier League (EPL) becoming the undisputed king.

kantar liga mencionesAccording to a Kantar Media report, 2016 is ending with no major changes in the ranking of leading European football competitions regarding social media activity. In fact, November’s figures show the EPL has increased its influence over Twitter conversation, with 1.7 million mentions.

On the other hand, Italy’s Serie A, with almost 540,000 mentions, and Spain’s La Liga, with over 490,000, haven’t managed to raise their standing on the social media scene despite increased efforts. According to the report, Germany’s Bundesliga and France’s Ligue 1 are the fourth and fifth most influential competitions in Europe.

Analysing the figures, Kantar highlights the excellent performance of Italy’s Serie A, which has beaten La Liga into second place. According to the company, Juventus and AC Milan have driven the conversation beyond Italy.

Regarding England, the irregular season of Mourinho’s Manchester United continues leading the social TV conversation along with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea’s fight for the top positions.

In Spain, La Liga’s activity on Twitter is mostly driven by Real Madrid mentions and November’s derby with Atlético de Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
