In what is the first concrete result of the partnership between Fox and the Paraguayan authorities, the country’s copyright office DINAPI has seized pirate equipment from TV Com SA.

dinapi fox paraguayAccording to DINAPI, the local cable operator had been distributing 21 premium signals without having an agreement with any of the programmers, including Fox Networks Group Latin America.

The case is pending investigation but the authorities have confiscated 22 satellite receivers as well as documents relating to the activities of the operator.

According to DINAPI, TV Com SA was operating in the small Paraguayan city of Itacurubí de la Cordillera, and had an annual income of around $1million.

The operation - part of Paraguay’s revamped anti-piracy strategy – took place shortly after a cooperation deal was reached between DINAPI, Fox Networks Group and the telecom authority Conatel to fight illegal pay-TV distributors.
