Video streaming platform iflix has developed an app for smart TVs powered by Alibaba Group’s YunOS TV operating system, to spread its reach in emerging markets.

“We are thrilled to work with YunOS to launch our native TV app with their cutting-edge smart TV operating system, YunOS TV. This partnership is a testament to our mutual commitment to bring the best local, regional and international entertainment to consumers across the region,” said David Goldstein, head of Asia for iflix.

The VOD service is now available in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brunei and the Maldives, and will launch in key additional emerging markets in the coming months, the company said in a statement.

Iflix offers a library of Hollywood, Asian and local TV shows and movies including many first run exclusives and award-winning programmes. Each subscription allows users to access the service on up to five devices, including phones, laptops, tablets, and television sets.
