Brazil’s Globosat has launched VIU, a business unit focused on digital content production for its own social channels as well as third-party projects.

redes socialesThrough an announcement made in the media group’s newspaper, O Globo, Globosat stated that VIU will address content demand on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. Although its main priority will be to meet Globosat’s own needs, the new business unit is also available for other brands and companies.

“It’s a unit focused on digital video, content development and social media projects. We will work on three lines: in partnership with Globosat’s channels; producing original content; and developing digital content for third companies,” said Paulo Daudt Marinho, director, VIU.

VIU has already developed a project, as a prior-to-launch pilot, for Globosat’s Multishow channel. During the network’s annual awards, VIU deployed specific digital actions which helped to increase the channel’s audience by 108% among general viewers and 229% among youngsters, compared to 2015 figures.

“This is one of the ways to explore, producing second-screen content for the main programming,” added Marinho. “We also intend to work close with YouTube talent and other influencers.”
